During his career, he painted coastal scenes, landscapes, and portraits (including a likeness of Albert Einstein) and developed innovative coloring techniques as an etcher.

Meyerowitz participated in many exhibitions, frequently winning prizes, and became a member of the National Academy as well as numerous other art associations throughout the country. His works are held in the collections of many American museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, and Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
