“For those of us who have lived a long time in the Maine landscape, it is as if Tom Curry were rendering the ache of the familiar and beloved” - Susan Hand Shetterly, Down East Magazine. Tom Curry, an artist and teacher currently living in Brooklin, Maine, has been painting the Maine coast for over 20 years in pastel and oil. To Curry, life on the Maine coast is charged with life, with brilliance. The ever changing light and atmosphere offer up constant inspiration. Influenced by artists such as Rockwell Kent, Marsden Hartley, Wolf Kahn and others, Curry's paintings capture the landscape of Maine with layers of color, and one can sense the joy the landscape brings to him. Curry graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1981, and has exhibited in galleries through Maine and Massachusetts, with his works in the collection of the Delaware Art Museum, Wheaton College, the Federal Reserve Bank Collection as well as private collections throughout the U.S.
