Ouren, Karl
American (1882-1943)
A native of Fredrikshald, Norway, Karl Ouren (1882-1943) began studying art in Copenhagen, Denmark and continued his efforts at the Art Institute of Chicago. He remained in Chicago and exhibited throughout the area, frequently earning prizes for his submissions. Ouren belonged to the Northwest Art League and his paintings are now included in the collections of the Milwaukee Art Institute, the Illinois States Museum, and the Art Society in Larvik, Norway.
