Born in Kirby-le-Soken Essex, England in 1877, painter and printmaker Mary Evelyn Wrinch immigrated to Toronto in 1885. Wrinch studied at the Central Ontario School of Art under Robert Holmes, Laura Muntz and G.A. Reid and then traveled to London to further her training at the Grosvenor Life School under Walter Donne and Alyn Williams. Her art education continued at the Art Students League in New York where she received private lessons in miniature painting from Alice Beckington. Wrinch later taught in the art department of the Bishop Strachan School in Toronto.

Wrinch was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy, American Society of Miniature Painters, Ontario Society of Artists, Society of Canadian Painter-Etchers and Engravers, Canadian Society of Graphic Art, Women’s Art Association of Canada and Canadian Handicrafts Guild. In addition to exhibiting with these associations, she participated in exhibitions at the British Empire Exposition and Tate Gallery in London, England.

Wrinch’s works are held in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario and National Gallery of Canada.
