Born in Birmingham, England in 1829, still life painter Thomas Worsey apprenticed to Alfred Johnson where he received formal training in the art of ornamental 'Japoneserie' using paint and papier mache as his medium.

Worsey exhibited his works from 1856-1874 at the Royal Art Academy, British Institution, Suffolk Street, Portland Gallery and also in many principal provincial towns and villages near Birmingham.
