Belgian (1871-1944)
In Her Boudoir
Oil on Canvas 13 7/8" x 12"
$9,500

Belgian Impressionist Georges Ferdinand Lemmers was born in Antwerp in 1871. He studied at the Royal Academy of Beaux-Arts in Antwerp under Walter De Vriendt and Frans Josef Joris, as well as the Academy of Mechelen in Brussels. Lemmers exhibited extensively in Paris, including the Paris Salon, and he received a bronze medal at the Paris World's Fair in 1900. He also exhibited frequently at the Salon de la Société Royal in Brussels.

"In Her Boudoir" illustrates Lemmers mastery of the European Impressionist style and his versatility as an artist adroitly combining the nude, still life and an eloquent interior into a single composition. Rich blues and warm creamy oranges vitalize the painting's intimate subject matter.
