Born in Iowa in 1895, Taylor studied art at Iowa University, as well as at the National Academy of Design and the Art Institute of Chicago. While at the National Academy, she received a Tiffany Foundation award, and met a fellow student, artist Andrew Winter, who became her husband. Taylor exhibited at the National Academy, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Portland Museum of Art. In 1959, the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland organized a one-person show of her work.
